Folkestone 10 (29th Mar 2013)

Start time: 11;00

Host: Folkestone Running Club

The 30th Folkestone 10

The 30th Folkestone 10 was a huge success on Good Friday with 588 finishers, despite the temperature being a little cooler than usual for this time of year.   Starting the race was Great Britain Paralympian Louise Simpson, who then ran the race herself alongside Nikki Goodwin, finishing the course in 1:53:50.

The race was won by Ashford Athletics Robert Latala who got around in 54:53.  Jim Addison of Beckenham was just under a minute behind in 55:46, whilst 3rd was Adrian Lowther from Medway & Maidstone Athletics Club in 56:32.

First lady home was Hazel Vuvi from Dartford Road Runners who finished with a time of 1:01:03.  Tina Oldershaw was next lady home in 1:01:45, whilst our own Rona Loubser was 3rd lady home in 1:05:44.

Folkestone were also represented elsewhere in the field.  Tim Warren finished 79th overall and knocked over a minute off his personal best with a time of 1:06:08, whilst Mark Cadier took 4 minutes off his PB coming home in 1:07:24 in 92nd position.  Dean Shrubsole also had a good race, finishing in 1:12:26, whilst Lucy Weekes and Stephen King had a good battle behind him finishing in 1:15:20 and 1:15:26 respectively.  Tracy Amos continued her recent form, knocking over 3 minutes of her best 10 mile time, crossing the line in 1:17:22.

The race was a huge success thanks to all the tireless work behind the scenes from the Folkestone 10 Race Team and thanks also to many of our club members that marshalled the race on the day.

Tim Warren
