This weeks news at FRC .....

It was a fairly quiet week this week.  Anthony Scott couldn’t resist taking part in the Bugatti 10k held by Cheltenham & County Harriers this Wednesday.  The race is held in memory of one of their members who drowned attempting to swim the English Channel and it is part of the Arch to Arc Challenge.   The Road Race begins at Prescott Hill Climb HQ and goes through the pretty villages of Gretton Fields, Alstone and Dixton. 

Friday night was the 2nd Race in the Rye Summer Classic Series.  The series consists of 3 races – 2 x 10k and finishes with a 5k race in September starting at the Rye Harbour Sailing Club.   Jane Wren came 1st Female V50 in a time of 50:44 and Alan Randall finished in a time of 52:05

The parkrun competition within the Club went in to the second round this week.  Over the next few weeks the Members of FRC will compete against their opponents (drawn at random from the winners of the first round)

This week at Folkestone Park run Jean Paul Jeffery was 4th man overall in a time of 19:07, next FRC member was Andrew Noble (19:55), Simon Coffey (20:00), Joe Bruce (20:22), Barry Hogben (23:07), Deirdre Coombs (24:06), Vicky Scott (24:27), Zoe Neale (25:15), Kate Bullard with a new PB (25:18), Richard Dyer (25:36), Hazel Green (25:40), Alan Randall (26:06), Anne Hegarty (26:31), Elizabeth Tew (28:32), Margaret Whitham (29:45), Elizabeth Smith (33:19), Russell France (34:51), Hayley Kluczynski (36:34), Sarah Fitter (36:35), Nicola James (37:25) and Paul James (37:26)

Parkrun Tourism this week  - A small group of members went to Bedgebury Pinetum – Lloyd Worsley was first man overall and broke the course record in a personal PB time of 16:39!!  Worsley was followed by Paul Bartlett (21:50), Richard Fowles  (22:33), 2nd lady Caroline Curtis (23:07), Catherine O’Connor in a PB time (24:26) and Alan Vigrass with a new PB (25:55)

Nick Steele was at Ashford Parkrun – he completed the 5k course round Victoria Park in a PB time of 17:47  Andrew Fletcher completed the Canterbury Parkrun in 17:45  and in Salisbury, Kate Lancefield completed the parkrun in 33:25

BREAKING NEWS!!! .....  Julie Gibbs, Deborah Jeffery and Richard Dyer have all been awarded ‘Parkrun Spirit Awards’  to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the Folkestone Parkrun and award people for getting into the true spirit of parkrun.  The trophies will be presented before Parkrun starts next Saturday 19th.   More details to follow in next weeks news .....

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
