A weekend of Cross Country, duathlons, marathons and half marathons.

The weekend kicked off with the first Kent County Athletics Association Cross Country this weekend at Stanhill Farm.   

Girls under 13’s – Catrina McArthur 11:18, Olivia Young 11:22, Emily Mackenzie 11:37

Boys under 13’s – Zak Doust 12:17, Joe Bruce 12:38, Archie Jones 12:48, Callum Hickman 12:59

Women under 17’s – Emily Chambers came 7th overall in a time of 14:07

Senior Women – Nikki Goodwin 22:46, Catherine O’Connor 23:45, Caroline Curtis 23:54, Hazel Green 26:11, Zoe Neale 26:30, Gail Turbutt 26:45, Jennifer Quinn 26:50, Jane Wren 27:13, Julie Gibbs 30:18, Tina Eke 30:20, Jenny Whitehead 30:28, Jodie Stoakes 30:47, Margaret Whitham 32:08

Senior Men – Lloyd Worsley 4th Man overall in a time of 32:27, Andrew Fletcher 35:23, Phil Hoyland 35:47, Ian McGilloway 37:45, Andrew Noble 39:22, Greg Playfoot 40:57, Simon Coffey 42:19, Paul Bartlett 43:17, Richard Fowles 44:38, Christopher Woolgar 44:38, Anthony Scott 47:28, Barry Hogben 47:46, Alan Randall 52:00, Graham Eke 52:19, Stephen King 53:22, Malcolm Gibbs 53:53

Team Results after the first race our Boys Under 13’s are 8th, Girls Under 13’s are 8th,  Senior Men (4 to score) are in 6th place, Senior Men (12 to score) are in 8th place, Senior Women (3 to score) are in 11th place and Senior Women (6 to score) 9th place.

 

Stuart Sprinks took nearly 7 minutes of his previous PB at the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday finishing in a time of 03:11:06!!

Kirsty Wilson ran her first half marathon in Manchester this weekend in a sub 2 hour time of 1:57:10

Excellent effort by all FRC competitors at Sunday’s tough Chilham Castle Duathlon events (10k / Sprint / Standard).

Taking part in the 10k was Anthony Scott who finished in a time of 53:57

Overall times in the Sprint Duathlon were Aldous Hosking 1:36:21 and Nikki Goodwin 1:42:48

A special well done to Tracy Wilkinson-Begg for winning the Ladies Standard Duathlon in an overall time of 02:37:45  Darren Crew completed his first Standard Duathlon in a time of  2:49:51 and Richard Fowles  2:50:16
 

At Folkestone parkrun this week Deborah Jeffery was First Lady overall and first FRC member through the funnel this Saturday in a time of 20:12, followed by Stuart Erskine 22:17, James Stroud 22:45, Brian Davis 23:50, Deirdre Coombs 23:59, John O’Hara 24:56, Chris Addison 25:08, Andrew Richardson 25:14, Alan Vigrass 25:28, Trudi Curd in a new PB time of 26:01, Carolyn Lewis 27:08, Russell France 28:46, Louise Fowler 31:19, Stephen King 37:44, Kate Lancefield 37:45.  A quick mention too for Shafiqullah Ahmadzai who completed his first park run in a time of 19:41 and hopes to join the club this week!

Pamela Allon ran in Pollok parkrun, Glasgow in a PB time of 30:05, Clive Allon ran at Canterbury for the first time in a time of 25:11 and Vicky Scott ran at Pegwell Bay in a time of 23:34

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners aged from 13 years (or Year 8), upwards and ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

*Please note we are unable to take on any new junior members (13+) until Spring 2018 as we have reached full capacity. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
