This weeks news ....

There was another of the Spring Marathons this weekend.  The Brighton Marathon took place on Sunday with several FRC members travelling to compete and spectate.  Amongst those running were Chris Addison, Laura and Hayley Ballard in their PB time of 3hrs 48 minutes, Faith Cowell in a PB time of 4:05:00, Jennifer Quinn in a PB time of 4:15:51, Angela Saunders in 4:30:04, Carolyn Lewis (completing her first marathon in 4:36:17) and Kate Lancefield all cheered on by their fellow members.


Over the weekend Morgan West competed in the British Triathlon Performance Assessment which acts as a trial to gain access to the British elite junior series throughout the year. This was raced over an 800m swim, a 20k bike and a 5k run in a total time of 59:56 to finish just outside the top half in a very competitive field.


The Southern Athletics League also took place this weekend at Sutcliffe Park in Eltham.  Lloyd Worsley took part in the 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 2000m Steeplechase.  Worsley came 3rd in the Steeplechase and 4th in all other events against very tough competition. Worsley was also 2nd scoring for FRC match fixtures in all events he took part in overall.  Catherine O’Connor came 6th in the 3000m and Grahame Eke ran in the 200m, and although he was a non scoring runner ‘he ran his fastest ever 200m and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ‘


Over in Poland Clive Allon ran the Poznan Half Marathon in a sub 50 time of 1:49:38 and also took part in the Poznan Parkrun on the Saturday, as a warm up,  in a time of 25:06


At Folkestone Parkrun this week David Gillett was the first FRC member through the finish funnel in a time of 17:11, followed by Levi Atwell 18:30, Stuart Sprinks 19:28, Deborah Jeffery was 2nd lady overall in a time of 20:46, Simon Coffey 21:01, Dominic Woolford 22:03, Karen Puttock 22:18, Kirsty Wilson a new PB 22:30, Stuart Erskine 23:13, Darren Crew 23:14, Vicky Scott 23:50, Andrew Richardson 24:12, Deirdre Coombs 24:42, Richard Dyer 26:29, Kirsty Gardiner 28:36, Gary Brazier 28:52, Julie Gibbs 29:49, Malcolm Gibbs 29:49, John O’Hara 30:40 and Linda Robson 37:06


In Ashford Caroline Curtis ran the parkrun in a time of 22:14 and Alan Vigrass in a time of 25:44

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
