FRC Golden Girls, 5k's, 10k's, Half Marathons, Ultra's and Duathlons

Lisa Smith ran the Howletts 5k in a time of 29:37.  2 laps of the Wildlife park before it opens to the General Public.  Hayley Kluczynski  and Russell France  ran the 10k route which was  4 laps of the park.  It was a rare opportunity to run along the pathways of Howletts past the primates, tigers a large family of elephants and many  more endangered species as they are waking up for the day.

Deirdre Coombs and Catherine O’Connor took part in the 5000m (5k) Kent Vet Track Championships on the track at Erith.  Coombs won a Gold Medal in the  V60’s  with a PB time of 23:10 and O’Connor also won a gold in the V40’s with a PB time of 21:23  Fantastic running girls!!

Anthony Scott  took part in the multi award winning Reigate Half Marathon in Priory Park  and completed the 13.1 mile course in a time of 1:44:39

Faith Cowell took part in the midweek  Saxons Vikings and Normans  Lucky Dip Challenge in the lovely  Shorne Woods Country Park . This a tough trail run with a couple of very tricky hills on each loop!!   Faith completed 32.5 miles in a time of  7hrs 10 minutes.

This weekend Aldous Hosking completed the Richmond Duathlon which consisted of 5k run, 22k bike and 5k run, through the stunning surroundings of Richmond Park, in a fantastic time of 1:35:00 including transitions.

On Sunday Chris Woolgar took part in The Naturist Foundation BH5K -  The Naked Run – where bare is beautiful. The Foundation is nestled in 50 acres of lush woodland park in the The North West Countrysideand the 5k is an undulating 3 lap course through the grounds.  The competitors run with numbers marked on their bodies, so no club colours in this one. The race attracted a field of nearly 100 despite the cool and showery weather, which was more than compensated for by the warm welcome he received from the organisers and naturists on site.   He came 13th overall in a time of 23:52 in a field of very competitive runners.   Chris said ‘the run had a ‘parkrun’ atmosphere with everyone out to have a good time.’

Clive Allon, Trudi Curd and Jane Wren went through to the 3rd round of the parkrun cup this week after beating their opponents in the fun challenge organised by Tim Warren.

At Folkestone this week Lloyd Worsley was first man overall in a time of 16:52, followed by Mark Ellerby 19:35, First lady overall Deborah Jeffery 19:50, Paul Bartlett in a PB time of 20:20, Richard Fowles 21:24, Stuart Erskine 21:46, Anthony Scott 22:15, Brian Davis 22;22, Vicky Scott in a PB time of 23:59, Jane Wren 24:49, Alan Randall 25:00, Richard Dyer 25:09, Carolyn Lewis in a PB time of 26:09, Trudi Curd in a PB time of 26:12, Carol Gonsalves 31:13, Malcolm Gibbs 31:51, Julie Gibbs 31:52 and Gary Brazier 33:35

Parkrun Tourism -  Andrew Noble ran at Gdansk Parkrun in Poland in a time of 19:46,  Jean Paul Jeffery achieved a PB at Northala Fields park run in a time of 18:38, Darren Crew and Jody Stoakes ran in the penultimate parkrun at Hatfield Forest in 19:47 and 29:19 respectively.   At Ashford parkrun Caroline Curtis was first lady overall in a time of 21:51,  David Weekes ran a PB time of 20:43, Zoe Neale 22:46, Alan Vigrass 24:03 and Angela Saunders 26:56

Don’t forget that the Folkestone Half Marathon is this Sunday – 24th September.  13.1 fairly flat miles along the seafront from Folkestone to Hythe (and back again!!)  Entries on the day subject to availability.
