Race Report - 14th and 15th June 2014

Andy Noble and Caroline Curtis were back in running action as they followed up their Tilgate parkrun on Saturday (Andy 21.36, Caroline 23.54) by running the Staplehurst 10k on the Sunday.  They both ran a season's best as Andy completed the 10k in 42.20 and Caroline in 47.39.  The Ashford parkrun was the other venue for Folkestone Runners on Saturday as four of the five members chalked up PB times on the parkrun course.  Darren Crew was 8th as he completed his PB run in 20.49, whilst Ashford veteran Mick James was 13th in 21.33.  The ladies all secured their best times as they finished in the top three places - Zoe Neale ran 22.30, Jody Stoakes 23.51 and Jo Peers 24.38.

On the track the Kent Schools Championships took place at the Julie Rose Stadium and one of our youngsters, Chloe Birtwhistle was 2nd in her age group in the 100 metres.  More results to follow on this.

On Sunday of course it was the Race for Life in Folkestone as hundreds of runners flooded the Leas in pink.  Many of our senior and junior members completed the 5k race.  Although there are no official times, Rona Loubser was first back, whilst Catherine O'Connor was also in the top finishers as she ran a time of 21.40, just ahead of Nikki Goodwin and Kirsty Gardiner.  Gail and Libby Turbutt ran together and completed the course in 25 minutes, whilst Debby Pickering got a PB time of 26.20.  Angela Saunders, running with six year old Rebecca Warren completed the race in 44 minutes.  If any ladies from FRC would like their times listed, please let Tim know (tim@folkestonerunningclub.co.uk).
