Ramsgate Rotary 10k, Florida Echo Masters and Ashford Parkrun

In scorching hot conditions, eight of our senior's took part in the first Ramsagate Rotary 10k.  It was certainly a challenging experience for our members with a number of hills to tackle as well as the glorious sunshine.  Before the main event, Libby Turbutt represented our club by coming second in the junior 1k event.

The 10k race was led all the way by Andy Fletcher who won the race in an amazing time of 36.57.  Chasing him all the way was Steve O'Brien who was runner up in the race with his time of 37.39.  Tim Warren was 11th as he ran 41.42 and Darren Crew was 17th in 45.20 as the four men secured the team prize for Folkestone.

Deborah Jeffery was the first of our ladies and first in her age category as she got around the tough course in 46.54.  Jody Stoakes was next in 53.06 and then close behind was Gail Turbutt in 53.32 as the ladies also secured the team prize.  Angela Saunders finished the race in 57.09.

Across the other side of the pond, our usual suspects were not just trying out new races, they were winning them!  Andy Noble and Caroline Curtis, both 'relaxing' in Florida ran the Echo 5k masters and both were victorious as Andy ran the 5k in 21.05 and Caroline in 23.55.  Closer to home there were also three of our clan running the Ashford parkrun.  Despite a lace stop Mick James ran 22.02 a day after running the same course in the Ashford 5k series. Zoe Neale was first lady home in 22.45 in a new PB time and Jo Peers had another solid run as she recorded a time of 25.46.
