Ashford Owler Half Tri, London Tri and Parkruns

With not many local races this weekend it was all about the triathalons instead on Sunday as some of our members decided to swim and bike as well as running!  In Ashford it was the Ashford Owler Half Tri ran by Tri Spirit Events.  With a base set up at the Julie Rose Stadium, there was a full and half event equivalent to the full and half iron man contest.  For Aldous Hosking and Stephen King this meant a 1.9k swim in open water, a 90k bike ride and a 21k run at the end.

Aldous finished 59th overall with a time of 5.59.53.  After a 50.07 swim where he was in 100th position, Aldous then rode his bike for 3.05.02 before running a half marathon in 1.52.28.  For Stephen King, this was an opportunity to get over his previous disappointment and he did so in style by completing the tough race in 7.02.20.  Steve was 106th when he got out of the lake after swimming for 1.02.15, before riding for 3.39.47 and then making up ground with his 2.13.31 run to end up 98th overall.  Although not officially Folkestone members, Martin Long and David Fowler were competing as the equivalent of WAG's (HAB's??!!) to Emma Long and Louise Fowler.  Martin competed in the same race as Aldous and Steve and finished 74th in a time of 6.17.20, whilst David was in the Sprint Event and finished 7th and 1st in his age catergory with a time of 1.15.08.

In London, Adam Eastwood decided at the last minute to compete in the London Triathalon at the Excel Centre.  Although I don't have his exact splits or details, Adam completed his race in around 2 hours 30 minutes.

On Saturday there were plenty of what seem a lot shorter parkruns!  The biggest battle was at Pegwell Bay where Steve O'Brien finished a second ahead of Andy Fletcher, as their club battle continues!  Steve was first over the line in 16.58, with Fletch 2nd in 16.59.  In Ashford, Peter Rider had a point to prove as he was 3rd in a PB time of 18.54.  Mick James finished 6th in 20.48, whilst James Long completed his run in 25.24 and mum Emma in 27.08.  At Crystal Palace, Tim Warren was 5th as he ran 19.53 ahead of Andy Noble who was 13th in 20.27.  Caroline Curtis completed the course in 24.27 and Angela Saunders in 28.14.
