Folkestone Runners Travel far and wide this week

Folkestone Running Club members were out on their travels this week including some very exotic locations.
Caroline Curtis, Andy Noble and Catherine O’Connor ventured up the M4 to Cardiff to take part in the Cardiff Pentath Challenge, five races over two days which would total 42.2km (26.2 miles) which is equal in distance to a marathon. On day one the intrepid team completed a 5k Parkrun, a 10k and 4.5km Cross Country run and on day two a Half Marathon (21.1km) and a 1.6km run. All achieved fantastic results with Andy finishing the event in overall 8th place and as 2nd vet 50, Caroline 1st Vet 45 and Catherine 3rd Vet 45.

In an even more exotic location Alan Randall and Jane Wren took part in the Bali Half Marathon which started at 5.30 am due to the high temperatures which rose to the high 30s during their run which they completed in just over 2 hours.

Four club members decided to become park run tourists this week with an extra twist.  Andy Fletcher, Aldous Hosking, Steve King and Lloyd Worsley  made the run even more challenging by first cycling to Hastings to take part in their Parkrun. Lloyd finished in a brilliant 1st place equalling his Parkrun PB previously set at Folkestone in a time of 16.04. Andy was 2nd in a time of 17.51, Aldous finished in a time of 23.52 and Steve in 32.10. Once they had completed their run, the four continued their cycle ride finishing in Brighton, a total of 80 miles on their bikes.

At the Folkestone Parkrun this week, 19 club members took part with Jean Paul Jeffery the first club member to finish in 6th place in a time of 18.55, Debbie Jeffery was the next to finish in 20.01 and was 2nd Lady and Zoe Neale 3rd lady in 22.41. The remaining times were Tony Scott 23.25, Richard Dyer 24.15, Laura Ballard 24.24, Deidre Coombes 24.24, Grahame Eke 25.14, Malcolm Gibbs 25,21, Elizabeth Tew 27.13 (PB), Carolyn Lewis 27.32, Jody Stoakes 27.36, Julie Gibbs 27.38, Kelly Flannery 28.32, Hayley Kluczynski 28.58, Russell France 29.12, Tina Eke 29.53, John O’Hara 33.09 and Trudi Curd, 36.29. Zoe, Richard, Laura, Grahame, Carolyn, Jody, Kelly, Hayley and Russell were all taking part in the Parkrun cup this week with Zoe, Richard, Russell, Grahame and Dave Weekes all through to the next round (Dave raced last week). Well done to Elizabeth on acheiving a Parkrun PB.
