Lloyd leads the PB bonanza this weekend


There have been some brilliant performances by club members this week. On Sunday, Lloyd Worsley ran the 10,000 meters at the prestigious Ladywell track hosted by Kent AC. Lloyd finished in a fantastic Personal Best time of 32.07, over a minute faster than his previous best for the 10,000 metres. 
Also racing on Sunday was Tony Scott in the Thanet Coastal Half Marathon and he completed the course in a time of 1.54.58. Jenny Quinn ran the Battle 10k today in a time of 51.17, Simon Coffey took part in the Shepway Sports Trust 5k Fun Run finishing in 2nd place and Karen Puttock ran with her daughters Evie and Hannah at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the inspiring Parallel 5k which is an inclusive race for able-bodied and disabled runners taking part together.Karen finished in a time of 30.28.
On the August Bank Holiday, three Folkestone runners raced in the heat at the Canterbury Half Marathon. First to finish for the club was Greg Playfoot in a time of 1.45.07 followed by Aron Thompsett, 1.45.09, Simon Coffey in 1.45.16 and John O’Hara in 2.08.15. On the same day, Tony Scott ran in the challenging but beautiful Sevenoaks 7mile off road race, finishing in a time of 1.02.59.
Park Run results. There were a few tourists out this week with Andy Noble and Caroline Curtis taking part in the Burgess Park Run finishing in 18.48 and 20.48 respectively, Chris Addison ran the Swansea Park Run in a time of 21.27 and Liz Tew ran the Wormwood Scrubs run in 28.08.
There were 22 club members taking part in this week’s Folkestone Park run with four club members producing fine PBs. Darren Crew finished in a time of 19.19, a PB and 7th place overall. Tracy Wilkinson-Begg was our next runner to finish also with a PB of 19.56 and was  1st Lady. Tracy was followed by Nikki Goodwin who was 2nd lady in a time of 21.08. Dave Weekes finished in a time of 21.43, Zoe Neale, 22.26, Brian Davis 22.53, Vicky Scott 24.13, a PB time, Alan Vigrass 24.17, Clive Allon 24.25, Richard Dyer 25.16, Angela Saunders 25.43, Carolyn Lewis 27.12 another PB time, Jody Stoakes 27.29, Julie Gibbs 27.31, Malcolm Gibbs 27.32, Bethanie Lewis 27.50, Margaret Whitham, 29.54, Lisa Smith 31.48, Kate Lancefield 34.32, Paul James 35.18, Nicola James 36.57 and JP Jeffery as the Tail Runner 52.36. Congratulations to our latest winners of the Parkrun challenge with Julie and Tracy making it through to the next round.

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
