Spooky Marathons, The Deal Castle 5 and Park Runs

Malcolm and Julie Gibbs started the week off with the Saxons, Vikings and Normans Samphire Hoe Halloween Challenge where they completed the marathon distance in 5:52:17 and 5:54:25 respectively on a very challenging but enjoyable course of approx 3 mile laps plus lots of cake and a fantastic spooky medal!

16 FRC members took part in The Deal Castle 5 Mile this weekend and managed to clean up on quite a few trophies – Andrew Fletcher (28:09)came  4th man overall and received the 1st Senior Male trophy. Emily Chambers (33:40) – 2nd Female overall.  Christopher Woolgar (34:49) – 1st Male Vintage. Catherine O’Connor (36:06) 4th Lady overall and 1st Female Supervet.  Deirdre Coombs (39:21) – 1st Female Vintage.  The women also took the Team prize – Emily Chambers, Catherine O’Connor and Vicky Scott.

Other runners taking part were Anthony Scott (35:14), Aldous Hosking (36:16), Vicky Scott (38:59), Laura Ballard (39:47), Jane Wren (40:00), Alan Randall (40:48), Simon Young (44:46), Louise Fowler (45:55), Hayley Kluczynski (46:50), Russell France (47:27), Kelly Flannery (50:18)

Going through to the Quarter-finals of the Park Run Challenge this week were Hazel Green, Russell France, Clive Allon and Darren Crew joining Andrew Noble.

Folkestone Park Run this week – first FRC member was Phil Hoyland - 2nd man overall in a time of 17:30, followed by Stephen O’Brien (18:51), Jean Paul Jeffery (19:17), Tracy Wilkinson-Begg – First Lady Overall – in a time of 20:19, Deborah Jeffery – 2nd Lady Overall – (20:29), Stuart Erskine (20:44), Chris Addison (21:16), Anthony Scott (21:48), James Stroud (22:49), Caroline Curtis (23;18), Clive Allon (23:40), Hazel Green (23:45), Vicky Scott (23:51), Kirsty Wilson (24:10), Alan Vigrass (24:37), Grahame Eke in a PB time  (24:53), John O’Hara (25:03), Richard Dyer (25:58), Jennifer Quinn in a new PB time (26:12), Kate Bullard (26:26), Russell France in a new PB time (27:16), Tina Eke in a new PB time (27:32), Andrew Fletcher (29:05), Louise Fowler (29:16), Lisa Smith (30:02), Paul James (34:08), Nicola James (38:44), Kate Lancefield (38:46)

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners aged from 13 years (or Year 8), upwards and ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

*Please note we are unable to take on any new junior members (13+) until Spring 2018 as we have reached full capacity. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
