Weekend Race Reports

Folkestone RC out in force making the most of the weather with plenty of PBs and even a course record.

Saturday saw Emma Creasy run 18:50 to break her own Folkestone parkrun women's course record. James Whitham ran a near 30 second PB to finish 2nd overall and was first back for the club in 18:08. There were also PB's for Joe Bruce (JM11-14) 19.03, Rupert Powell (JM10) 25:34 – a whopping 1 minute 46s PB!, and Diane Parsons 26:51 – a PB in each of her last five parkruns at Folkestone.

Elsewhere Dan Voller, Dave Tyler and Ian McGilloway worked together to coast to a 1,2,3 at the Walmer and Deal Seafront parkrun, Caroline Curtis was first lady in the Dartford parkrun in 23:27, and Torben Jensen completed the Catton parkrun in 19:20.

The undulating country lanes of Kent hosted both the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon and the Headcorn Half Marathon on Sunday. At Headcorn, Darren Crew returned to racing with a time of 1:31:06, and Kirsty Wilson recorded her second half marathon PB in as many weeks with 1:44:37. Also running were Stuart Erskine 1:34:17, Aldous Hosking 1:42:41, Richard Fowles 1:44:49, Anthony Scott 1:49:02 and John O'Hara 1:56:06. Dominic Shepherd was the sole FRC representative at Tunbridge Wells, finishing in 1:49:44.

At the Tenterden 5 Mile race Andrew Fletcher came 5th in a competitive field with a time of 28:46.

Closer to home Jane Wren competed the Dymchurch 10k along the sea wall in 52:03.

Over at Betteshanger Hayley Kluczynski ran 19.5 miles in 3 hours 40 as part of the SVN Super Heroes vs Super Villains Challenge.

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
