At Folkestone parkrun on Saturday 9th February Dave Gillett finished third in a time of 19.42, Dom Shepherd 22.21, Simon Coffey 22.22, Tony Scott 25.12, Paul Bartlett 25.25, John O’Hara 25.35, Catriona Watts 27.03, Hazel Green 27.03, Rupert Howell ran other PB 27.20, Clive Allon 27.48, Richard Fowles 28.36, Gary Brazier 29.52, Linda Robson 29.53,Richard Dyer 30.02, Luke Fowles 30.16, Kirsty Wilson 32.00, Trudy Curd  33.07, Nicola James 38.29

 

Whilst in Glasgow Pam Allon ran 29.15

 

 

Saturday Kent Cross Country league

 

The season ended yesterday with Nick Steele, Phil Hoyland, Grahame Eke, Catherine O' Connor, Caroline Curtis, Gail Turbutt and Tina Eke competing for the Club. In challenging conditions, the Ladies were the first to race with Caroline Curtis finishing in 46th place on the 5.5km course in a time of 27.27. Next to finish was Gail Turbutt in 72nd place in 30.45, Catherine O' Connor 81st on her return from illness and injury in a time of 33.21 and Tina Eke, 86th in 35.31.

Nick Steele was the first to finish for the Folkestone men in 42nd place in a time of 38.51 on the 9.7 km course. Phil Hoyland also returning from injury finished in a time of 41.28 in 71st place and Grahame Eke in 160th in a time of 58.05.

The Ladies were able to field a scoring team and finished in 13th Place.

 

 

For the season, in the team competition the Folkestone men finished in 15th place for a scoring team of 4 and in 8th place for a scoring team of 12.

The Ladies finished in 9th place for a scoring team of 3 and 6th place for a scoring team of 6.

The final individual placings for the season are based on the number of races completed and the finishing positions in those races.

Senior men

Nick Steele 21st place, Grahame Eke 63rd, Tom Leaver 92nd, Tristan Bruce 96th, Dominic Woolford 101st, Chris Woolgar 132nd, Ian McGilloway 160th, Paul Bartlett 227th, Anthony Scott 250th, Andrew Smith 254th, Malcolm Gibbs 256th, Phil Hoyland 295th, John Hill 311th, Darren Crew 320th, Dave Smyth 346th, James Whitham 362nd and Rob Hill 377th.

In the Mens Vet 60 competition -Grahame Eke 5th, Chris Woolgar 12th, Malcolm Gibbs 22nd and Dave Smythe 23rd.

In the Ladies competition the Folkestone Ladies finished in the following positions:- Senior Ladies Caroline Curtis 18th, Catherine O' Connor 25th, Gail Turbutt 30th, Nikki Goodwin 48th, Kirsty Wilson 69th, Tina Eke 85th, Julie Gibbs 93rd, Jenny Quinn 148th, Emma Creasy 167th, Emily Chambers 172nd (and 11th under 20) Catriona Watts 213th and Margaret Whitlam 232nd.

In the Vet 45 category

Caroline Curtis finished in 9th Place, Catherine O'Connor 13th, Gail Turbutt 15th and Catriona Watts in 60th

In the Vet 55 category

Tina Eke finished in 7th Place, Julie Gibbs in 9th place and Margaret Whitham in 17th.

 

Sunday 10th February

 

There were many races with Folkestone participating around the county but in London at the Olympic park 4 runners were wearing their blue vests to compete in the half marathon event where the course looped around the park over gentle hills.   Jamie Platts was first home in a time of 1.29.41 and on her debut appearance Ellie Hayes ran a superb time of 1.35.53.  Diane Parsons ran a huge PB of 2.07.15 and Kate Lancefield also ran a great run in 2.35.30

 

Over in Deal also a half marathon distance, the course was made challenging by the wind and its hilly route.  Ian McGilloway was the first home in a cracking time of 1.18 59.  Deborah Jeffery finished in 1.36.34.  Stuart Erskine 1.42.45 Kirsty Wilson 1.46.17 Richard Fowles 1.46.39, Vicky Scott 1.47.56, Catriona Watts 1.53. 44, Gail Turbutt, 1.55.55 Aldous Hoskin 1.56.11, John O’Hara 1.56.37, Phil Maul 2.01.46 a massive 15 minutes faster than last year, Kate Bullard 2.13.45, Maria Felicetti another PB in a time of  2.16.03, Hayley Kluczynski  2.18.59, Angela Warren  2.19.03 and Julie Gibbs 2.22.55

 

More local at the popular Ashford and District 10k Torben Jessen was first home for Folkestone in 38.53 and finishing 13th overall, Kev Newman was next in 39.07 14th Overall and Jamie Whitham 39.22, 15th overall, Emma Creasey and first lady in 39.30, Paul Bartlett ran a personal best time 40.27, Rob Hill 42.02, Chris Addison  43.15, Liam Cumber 44.48 a PB, Pete Richardson  46.15, Tony Scott 46.22, Charlotte Avery 46.37, Danielle Ingleston 47.32, Victoria Green PB 49.35 Gary Brazier 52.31 another new PB, Jane Wren 55.33, Alan Randall 55.37, Lisa Smith   58.56

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
