The annual Folkestone Coastal 10k took place this weekend and it was hot!!   The FRC girls Emily Chambers, Catherine O’Connor and Kirsty Wilson took the Ladies team prize, whilst Chambers also came 3rd lady overall and Torben Jessen 1st Male Vet 55.

Results were Torben Jessen in a PB time of 39:07, Stuart Erskine in a PB time 41:37, Domini Woolford 41:43, Emily Chambers 43:23, Rob Hill 45:49, Catherine O’Connor 46:07, James Whitham 47:41, Andrew Richardson 48:24, Kirsty Wilson in a PB time of 49:12, Anthony Scott 49:34, John O’Hara 50:10, Vicky Scott 52:43, Richard Dyer 52:57, Gail Turbutt 53:08, Jane Wren 53:40, Alan Randall 53:46, Carolyn Lewis 56:28  Hayley Klucsynski 1:01:55, Kelly Flannery 1:03:33

Anthony Scott also ran on Friday in Samphire Hoe 5k series, and the SVN Mega Challenge Half Marathon on Saturday.

Faith Cowell ran the hot and humid Neolithic Marathon in 4:48:00   Official results aren’t published yet.

The first leg of the East Kent Relays took place this week in Folkestone.  After the first race the FRC team placings are as follows:

Senior Mens A Team 3rd, Senior Mens B Team 2nd, Senior Mens C Team 7th, Senior Mens D Team 9th, V40 Mens A Team 2nd, V40 Mens B Team 1st, V50 Mens A Team 4th, V50 Mens B Team 2nd and for the ladies Senior Ladies A Team 1st, Senior Ladies B Team 1st, V35 Ladies 7th, V45 Ladies 2nd and V55 Ladies 2nd.  The next race takes place on Tuesday 29th at Minnis Bay.

In Folkestone Park Run this week Ian McGilloway   was the 1st man overall in a time of 17:54.  The next FRC member through the finish funnel was Kevin Newman in 20:57 followed by Chris Addison 21:06, Vicky Scott 25:45, Nikki Goodwin 25:54, Andrew Richardson 26:01, Stuart Erskine 26:19, Andrew Smith 26:38, Richard Dyer 26:46, Trudi Curd 27:39, Philip Maull 28:37, Aldous Hosking 28:37, Stephen King 29:44, Jacob Worsley 36:09, Nicola James 37:46, Julie Gibbs 56:58, Malcolm Gibbs 56:59

In Milton Keynes Liam Cumber ran the 5k parkrun course in 24:30 and in Canterbury, Caroline Curtis came 3rd lady overall in a PB time of 22:50

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
