Cross Country, Beachy Head Marathon & The Thames River Half

It was cross country again this Saturday afternoon with the second race in the KCAA cross country championships at Somerhill School, Tonbridge. 

Team Results – Boys Under 13 – 8th, Senior Men (4 to score) – 7th, Senior Women (3 to score) – 10th, Senior Women (6 to score) – 9th

Individual Results – Boys Under 13 – Joe Bruce 27th, Zak Doust  33rd, Callum Hickman 46th, Sam Smith 75th .  Girls Under 13 – Olivia Young  38th, Catrina Macarthur 49th.   Men under 17 – Morgan West 21st.  Senior Men – Lloyd Worsley  13th, Andrew Fletcher 40th, Ian McGilloway 66th, Darren Crew 120th, Tristan Bruce 126th, David Weekes 179th, Richard Fowles 199th, Barry Hogben 227th, Graham Eke 244th, Alan Randall 245th, Stephen King 248th.  Senior Women – Tracy Wilkinson-Begg 27th, Nikki Goodwin 28th, Catherine O’Connor 68th, Zoe Neale 82nd, Hazel Green 100th, Gail Turbutt 103rd, Jane Wren 114th, Laura Ballard 125th, Emma Long 141st, Jodie Stoakes 142nd, Tina Eke 144th, Elizabeth Tew 152nd, Margaret Whitham 162nd.

Also on Saturday we had a hardy group of runners take to the Seven Sisters  in Eastbourne for the Beachy Head Marathon. One of the biggest off-road marathons inthe UK, well known for it’s hill start and scenic challenging route through the South Downs National Park countryside.

Andrew Noble was first FRC runner and 83rd overall in a time of 3:48:50 followed by Chris Woolgar 5:00:17, Catriona Watts 5:03:13, Jennifer Quinn 5:50:44 and Jenny Whitehead 6:24:05

Catherine O’Connor and Richard Fowles ran in the River Thames Half Marathon on Sunday.  Richard got a new PB time for the distance with a fantastic time of 1:37:46 and Catherine came in with a time of 1:45:15 despite taking a nasty tumble at Mile 2!!

Park run this week David Gillett was 3rd man overall and first FRC member through the finish funnel up on the Leas in a time of 17:11, followed by Levi Atwell 19:51, Jean Paul Jeffery 20:51, Deborah Jeffery – who was first lady overall and first FRC lady – 20:51, Kirsty Wilson in a PB time of 23:54, Deirdre Coombs 24:25, Alan Vigrass 24:28, Vicky Scott 24:36, John O’Hara 25:08, Andrew Smith 26:24, Carolyn Lewis 27:58, Russell France 28:05, Kirsty Gardiner 28:37, Louise Fowler 30:18, Stephen King 34:34, Caron Inder 38:54, Richard Dyer 51:25

Parkrun Tourism – Beachy Head Marathon Supporter Caroline Curtis ran at the Eastbourne Parkrun and came 1st Lady overall in a time of 22:17!  Malcolm (28:14) and Julie Gibbs (28:15) ran at Conkers Parkrun in NW Leicestershire.

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
