Cross Country, 10 Milers, Marathons, and accidental Marathons.

Stephen King took part in the Saxons, Normans Vikings St Andrews Day Challenge in Ramsgate on 30th November and then again in the Advent Marathon Challenge on 1st December along with Kate Lancefield and Lisa Smith.  King completed the Challenge in a time of 5:48:23 and Lancefield and Smith ran together in a time of 6:55:46

3 FRC members, Anthony Scott (1:17:37), Hayley Kluczynski (1:41:39), and Russell France, ran in the Alan Green Memorial 10 which started at Westgate Pavilion.  The 10 mile course is fairly flat and takes place around Margate finishing with a windy battle along the coast.

It was also the Kent Vets Cross Country Championships this weekend, which took place at Central Park, Dartford.   Tracy Wilkinson-Begg came 3rd overall Vet 45 and claimed a Bronze Kent County Medal.  The V55 ladies team, Deirdre Coombes, Tina Eke and Elizabeth Tew took the Kent County Silver Medals for second place.

Phil Hoyland was first man overall through the finish funnel at the Folkestone Parkrun this weekend in a time of 17:29, followed by Jean Paul Jeffery (19:20), Stuart Sprinks in a PB time (19:28), Luke Fowles in a PB time (20:42), Simon Coffey (20:48), Anthony Scott (21:22), Stuart Erskine (22:14), Aldous Hosking (24:08), Richard Dyer (24:26), Vicky Scott (24:38), John O’Hara (25:21), Neil Adams (25:48), Philip Maull (27:02), Carolyn Lewis (27:07), Lynne Page (27:23), Trudi Curd (27:38), Andrew Fletcher (28:26), Kate Lancefield (55:39), Lisa Smith (55:39)

Darren Crew (19:58) and Jody Stoakes (26:00) ran at Valentines Park in Ilford.

JUNIOR NEWS

We had a very successful day Sunday at Folkestone Sports Centre in the Kent Sportshall League.

FSC juniors fielded 5 under 11 teams, 3 under 13 teams & 2 under 15 team's.

We won a very competitive under 11 mixed team event, with team 1 Joshua Evans, Owen Humphries, Ida Keller and Emily Mackenzie taking first place out of 19 teams from across the county.

FRC athletes also won the u13 boy's team event, with Jack Doubtfire, Keenan Simmons, Tommy Owler and Emmanuel, with Oscar Maull joining our partner team Paddock Wood, Keenan came first in the u13 boys with Jack just 2 points behind him.

The winning ways continued with Gene Sanger winning the overall u15 boys event and with Edward, Nathaniel Ryan and Bill Norman they also won the team event.

The under 15 girls of Caitlin Gallagher, Macey Forster, Lydia Stanton and Eleanor Jury (fromSwale) won the team competition and Caitlin Gallagher came 3rd over u15 girl.

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners aged from 13 years (or Year 8), upwards and ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

*Please note we are unable to take on any new junior members (13+) until Spring 2018 as we have reached full capacity. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
