Marathon Season Continues: Brighton, Paris and Boston

It was another busy weekend as marathon season continues with FRC runners heading to Brighton, Paris and Boston (near Lincoln, not the American one!) for their attempts at 26.2 miles.

Caroline Curtis was the sole FRC runner in Boston and finished in 3:37:27, earning her Good for Age entry to London. She also picked up the prize for 1st Vet 50.

Over the channel in Paris, Hayley Ballard set a new PB time of 3:35:59 while Raymond Egen finished in 4:06:29.

Brighton saw the biggest turn out. Phil Hoyland was first to cross the finish line for club in a time of 3:05:31. Jamie Platts was next in 3:46:56 made all the more impressive as he did a half ironman last week. It was Charlotte Avery’s first marathon and she finished in 3:56:23 followed by Zack Dennis in 4:21:31, Diane Parsons in 4:38:05 and Phil Maull in 4:44:59. Another marathon first timer was Hayley Kluzynski who finished in 4:50:10. Maria Felicetti ran 4:52:38 while Faith Cowell completed the course in 5:07:26. Kate Lancefield knocked a massive 18 minutes off her PB and finished 34 minutes quicker than last year in a time of 5:26:01.

Saturday morning saw a big turnout on the Leas for the Folkestone Parkrun. Second overall and first back for club running a big PB and breaking the 17 minute barrier was Dan Voller.  Following behind were Tristan Bruce (19:04), Dave Gillett (19:14), Rob Hill (21:43), Stuart Erskine (21:56), Danielle Ingleston (22:37), Chris Woolgar (23:10), Tony Scott (23:31), Clive Allon (23:37), Andy Smith (23:45), Vicky Scott (23:52), Catherine O’Connor (24:17), Paul Bartlett (24:17), Catriona Watts (24:43), Luke Fowles (24:50), Carolyn Lewis (25:47), Alan Vigrass (26:17), Gary Brazier (27:16), Kirsty Gardiner (30:12), Paul James (32:29), Deidre Coombs (33:56), Catherine-Anne Curtis (34:22), Julie Gibbs (34:41) and Linda Robson (37:27).

Down the road in Ashford, Jenny Quinn ran 25:37 while Caroline Curtis stopped off at the Jersey Park parkrun while en route to Boston and ran 32:06.

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
