The Easter Bank Holiday weekend started off on Good Friday with the 34th annual Folkestone 10 Mile  Run (and Junior Fun Run) organised by Folkestone Running Club.  Members of the club marshalled, ran, supported and cheered, made teas, massaged and more under the supervision of race director Jon Turbutt.

Nikki Goodwin won 3rd Senior Lady Trophy in a time of 1:13:02   FRC also won the Male and Female 2nd Team Prizes.  Goodwin (1:13:02), Charlotte Avery (1:14:49), Deirdre Coombs (1:31:12) and Lisa Smith (1:45:48) James Stroud (1:04:02), Nick Steele (1:04:28), Jason Ransley (1:07:03) and Richard Dyer (1:20:40)

7 members took part in the Easter  Weekend - Isle of Man Festival of Running.  The weekend started with a 10k at Port Erin on Good Friday.  First home for the club was Stephen Wilkinson (39:52), followed by Tracy Wilkinson-Begg (45:02), Joe Long (49:22), Lucy Weekes (49:52), Martin Long (54:16) and Emma Long (58:04) 

Easter Saturday saw a Mens 4 Mile and Ladies 3 Mile Race at Peel Hill – Joe Long (32:14), Martin Long (35:40), James Long (36:59), Tracy Wilkinson-Begg (22:22), Emma Long (29:32) and Lucy Weekes fell and had to represent the club from a hospital bed – that’s dedication for you!!  

The last race of the weekend was the Douglas 5k with Stephen Wilkinson finishing in a time of 19:30, Tracy Wilkinson-Begg (21:40), James Long (22:13), Joe Long (22:23), Martin Long (24:56) and Emma Long (27:29)

Stephen King took part in the Harbour Wallbanger Beach Race at Viking Bay, Broadstairs.  A 7km run on the beach in a time of 39:35

At park run this week in Folkestone Deborah Jefferey took first lady position in 19:49 and Catherine O’Connor 3rd female position in a time of 22:30   First home for Folkestone was Phil Hoyland (18:34) followed by Lloyd Worsley (18:35), Dominic Woolford (18:38), Jean Paul Jeffery (19:20), Joe Bruce (21:09), Benjamin Jeffery (21:09), Simon Coffey (21:18), Andrew Richardson (21:20), Richard Fowles (22:12), Brian Davis (22:59), Alan Randall in a pb time of 23:35, Alan Vigrass (24:10), Angela Saunders (24:48), John O’Hara (25:11), Richard Dyer (25:33), Kelly Flannery in a pb time of 29:03, Caron Inder (30:32), Kate Lancefield (33:49), Trudi Curd (33:50) and Tim Warren (40:09)

At Burgess park run in Camberwell, London Andrew Noble ran a personal best time of 19:02

Andrew Fletcher took 2nd Male Position at Ashford Park Run in a time of 17:02 followed by Caroline Curtis (22:38)

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
