Folkestone RC Athletes make a solid start in Kent Young Athlete League


Folkestone RC came 6th in their first league meeting this year against very tough opposition.

The FRC athletes are now having to compete against the top athletics clubs in Kent, all which have running tracks. 

There were many new young athletes in the team and though very nervous, performed exceptionally well.

Most of the athletes achieved or equalled their PB's.

England Athletics Grade 4 were achieved by Jack Doubtfire in the u13 boys 100m (13.9) & 200m (29.1), Owen Moncrieff u13 boys Javelin (24.56m).

The under 13 Girls Grade 4 were Bella Reina 70m Hurdles (13.3) and Ellie Burke Discus (17.17m).


Seven of FRC junior club records were broken, 2 by Nathan Young u15 300m & 80m Hurdles, Joe Bruce in u13 1500m, Zak Doust u13 High Jump, Jack Doubtfire u13 100m.

U15 girl Jaan Sobande High Jump and Ellie Burke u13 Discus.


The next match is in Dartford Sunday 4th June, where the team hopes to build on this solid start to stay in this top division.

About Us

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
