Kent Schools XC and Parkrun cup finalists confirmed!

It was the Kent Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday and FRC had two runners competing, representing Shepway. In the junior boys race, Joe Bruce took on the 4k course and put in a very strong performance, finishing in 25th place out of 113 runners.

In the senior boys race, Morgan West had a great run, knocking 2 minutes off his time from last year and finishing in 11th position to secure his place in the Kent team at the South East Schools Inter-Counties in a couple of weeks time.

At Folkestone Parkrun on Saturday morning, the remaining semi final in the parkrun was played out as Jody Stoakes took on Kirsty Wilson. Unfortunately for Jody, Kirsty had a brilliant run, gaining a new PB and a place in the final.

James Whitham was first back for the club in a time of 18:37. He just missed out on a new PB but his 2nd place overall was his best position to date. Next back for the club and 1st lady was Debbie Jeffery in a time if 20:52 ahead of Darren Crew, Nick Steele, Dave Gillett and Dan Voller who crossed the line together.

Next was Kirsty Wilson who’s PB time of 21:51 was her first under the 22 minute barrier. Behind her were Stuart Erskine (21:59), Richard Fowles (23:02), John O’Hara (24:14), Tony Scott (24:58) and then Nikki Goodwin, complete with buggy, in 25:06. Catriona Watts was next in 25:07 followed by Phil Maul (25:12), Alan Randall (26:02). Jody Stoakes (26:31), Luke Fowles (27:01), Aldous Hosking (27:40), Linda Robson (27:47), Debra Moran (30:47), Hayley Kluczynski (31:27), Louise Fowler (31:54), Kate Lancefield (31:59), Lisa Smith (32:00) and Nicola James (41:02).

Elsewhere, up the road in Deal, Dave Tyler was first overall in 18:22 while Vicki Scott battled through the wind to finish in 23:25. In Swansea, Chris Addison ran 20:25 while Clive and Pam Allon took part in the Glasgow event, finishing in 25:15 and 28:42 respectively. Caroline Curtis ran in Bexley Parkrun in a time of 22:57 while over in Poland, Emma Creasey was once again the fastest female in the Warszawa-Ursynow parkrun in a time of 19:21.

Folkestone Running Club is a small friendly club for runners with ability ranging from elite to those that run less competitively, in Folkestone and surrounding areas in Kent. We also have a partnership club Folkestone Running Club Juniors for the under 13 age group. 

All adults wishing to join should be capable of running a 5k and be willing/able to join in the workout sessions put on by the coaches.
